·      Introduction - History of RAF NDT

Non Destructive Testing in the UK Military is nearly 50 years old. The first course ran in January 1959 at RAF Swanton Morley, Norfolk, and course number 163 will be running in its 50th year at MOD St Athan.

NDT in the UK Military has seen many changes over those years. The move from RAF Swanton Morley to RAF St Athan came in 1995. Since then it has changed from the RAF School to the Tri Service School, moved out of the RAF into the MOD and endured innumerable organisational name changes and moved back into the RAF again in 2008.

Over the last half century 1049 NDT Technicians have passed through the School, and on into the aerospace NDT community. People from 24 UK and Foreign Military Services, 23 MOD/civilian organisations, and representing 4 continents.

The 40th Reunion was held in Leicester in 1999 (see link from course listing page) and was a resounding success. To further celebrate RAF NDT reaching the half-century, a ‘50th Anniversary Reunion’ was held for ALL of those people who completed the NDT Technicians Course in the RAF School of Non Destructive Testing, and more recently the Tri Service School of NDT, in the Britannia Royal Court Hotel in Coventry on 26th September 2009.

With the far reaching influence of WWW, this website was been created to provide an easily accessible way for people to find out about the event and contact the organisers. To see who attended the function, the names under each course photograph changed colour.

Chief Tech Ike Anfly [RAF]   – those that attended the event.

Sgt A N Other [MOD]           – the rest.

·      Information

01 October 09 - I've created a Facebook Group called 'RAF NDT' unsurprisingly! (what else could it be?). It's a closed group so a member of the admin team will need to approve anyone wanting to join (well, we are an exclusive bunch!), but once you're in you can use the discussion board, post messages onto the wall and upload pictures. It saves me time and provides much more functionality than I could ever manage on this website.

28 September 09 - Shattered! Over the next few weeks I will be making changes to the website now that it's purpose has been served. Plans are to have a page or two on the 50th Reunion with photos. Also a message page is being considered for people to post their own personal memories of the event.

As always, I'm open to further suggestions, but mindful that I don't want this becoming a second job :¬)

The final list of attendees was..... >>>>> click here!

Event Sponsorship - A massive 'Thank You' goes out to the sponsors of the event from all present. Without it none of this would have been possible.
